Today bout 1030 my main boss comes by the office, asked if everyone is there. I said sure, he decided to let us in on something that has just been found out.
I work for a private contractor on base, we have been doing the same work for 10 years now. It would seem that the next rebid for work is now not going to happen. The govt has decided that it will not go to a private contractor but to civil service!
Which is fine, I get better leave, better sick leave, close pay, annual raises, same job and not required to wear uniforms. SOUNDS GREAT!
However pending on how they open jobs, it could be an inside hire "meaning you have to already be civil service". WHich for all of us it blows. No one is in the system working as a GS type job. WE'd have to find some crap ass job to get in, take a huge pay cut just to hope to make it.
WE all felt tense after that meeting, and everyone is speculating like mad. RUMORS r US, and so on.
I just hope a few folks come through with that they are saying, and in the beginning of the year get more information we can work with. I got one more post coming...

Well fri am I took Dave to North Carolina! He will be gone for some time, or prolly till such time as he makes issues up there. I need a break and so does the house and everyone in it.
It was not a bad trip up for driving 10 hours sucks and getting stuck in Atlanta traffic BLOWS!
Found the house first shot! thank god for good GPS units. The hotel was nice, wish i could have stayed another night and enjoyed the area a lil more, but it was so DRY i felt my nose bleeding. ewwww
So it's back to quiet nights and not worrying where he is, for now....
